"We bought the shirt for my 4yo to help her stop sucking her
fingers (we bought the blue because she likes "boy
stuff." My husband introduced it to her as a shirt with
mittens and the purpose. She thought it was funny and likes to wear
it. I was AMAZED that she would wear it. She has stopped sucking
her fingers not only at night, but also in the daytime! We continue
to put her special shirt on her because she likes it. We did not
use the daily reward system-we just set a goal out of several weeks
and said we'd stay at a hotel so she could swim if she kept it on

"I thought it was a good idea but
wasn’t sure about it. Sometime later my daughter (4) reminded
me about the special shirt and said she would wear it because she
really wanted to stop sucking her thumb but had trouble at night.
So she was excited to wear it. We are 2 days away from her goal and
she is doing great. She also was a hair turner she does not do that
either now. We will see how she does when we put her to sleep
without the shirt in a couple days. But I feel she will be just
fine. She is excited about going to get her reward at Target. I
totally would recommend the Special Shirt. My daughter had her
thumb sucking under control when she was awake but just needed a
little help at night. Even during the day or close to bedtime when
she was visibly tired she does not turn her hair or suck her thumb
like she used to. She asks me everyday if it looks like her teeth
are growing back the right way. I tell her yes, and I tell her how
proud we are and how proud the dentist will be to hear about and
see her success. I think the program is great. I wish I came up

"This is a great idea and a great product.
We were able to virtually eliminate a habit which was extremely
ingrained.(she has been sucking her thumb since the day she was
born). The special shirt and program coupled with a lot of
encouragement and support through some difficult emotional moments
gave her the experience of getting along without the thumb and
ultimately allowed her to make the decision to stop. I recommend
getting at least 2 shirts if you are going to really give it
serious go. It should be made clear that this program is not a
‘no brainer’. There were times when the novelty of the
shirt and the promise of a reward were far less compelling than the
urge to suck the thumb (especially when she was very tired or
feeling sad). That being said, we could not have accomplished what
we did in the time frame that we did (she was requesting to do it
on her own without the shirt after just 3 weeks) without the shirt
and program."
